HOW TO: PROGRAM AND USE MEMORY SEAT FUNCTIONS
FIND YOUR IDEAL SEATING POSITION, BUT SHARE YOUR VEHICLE WITH OTHER DRIVERS? GMC'S AVAILABLE PROGRAMMABLE MEMORY SEAT FUNCTIONS LET YOU SET IT SO YOU WON'T FORGET IT.
However, if your GMC truck or SUV is equipped with available memory seat functionality, you can quickly recall your favorite driver’s seat position – and, if equipped, power mirror settings and power tilt/ telescoping steering column settings.
Memory functionality is available on the following GMC vehicles:
- Terrain SLT and Terrain Denali
- Acadia SLT2 and Acadia Denali
- Yukon SLT Standard Edition, Yukon SLT and Yukon Denali
- Sierra SLT and Sierra Denali
- Next Generation 2019 Sierra SLT, Sierra AT4, and Sierra Denali
IDENTIFYING DRIVER NUMBER
Your GMC is equipped with two sets of keys or remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitters, allowing for two different drivers to program, store, and recall seat settings upon starting the vehicle, if so desired.
Knowing which number key/RKE you use as your primary key is important for programming memory seat functions.
To identify the driver number:
- Start the vehicle with a different key or RKE transmitter. The DIC should display the driver number; 1 or 2. Turn the ignition off and remove the key or RKE transmitter from the vehicle.
- Start the vehicle with the initial key or RKE transmitter. The DIC should display the other driver number not shown in Step 1.
- GMC Memory Seat Buttons
HOW TO SET YOUR SEAT
On the driver’s door panel, an array of buttons – labeled ‘SET,’ ‘1,’ ‘2,’ and an icon indicating exit – are specific for storing memory positions. These buttons allow you to set and recall seat positions.
- Before storing, adjust all available memory positions – including seat, mirrors, and – on Yukon – power steering column, if so equipped.
- Turn the ignition to the ‘ON’ position, if the vehicle is not already on or running.
- Press and release the ‘SET’ button, and an audible beep should sound.
- Immediately press and hold the numbered button that matches your key/RKE fob (see above) until two beeps sound.
- Programming is now complete. Release the button.
An exit button is also provided for setting a seat position that eases egress from the vehicle. Set the driver’s seat to an ideal exit position and repeat the above procedure for the exit button.
MANUALLY RECALL YOUR SEAT
Once seated within the vehicle, simply press and hold either the “1” or “2” button until the seats, mirrors, and/or steering column positions you previously saved have been recalled.
AUTOMATIC RECALL
Your memory seats are also equipped with automatic seat recall functionality, which can make loading previously saved seat positions even easier.
As described above, your GMC is equipped with two sets of keys and remote key fobs. When starting your vehicle with one of the given keys, a message in the Driver Information Center within the gauge cluster indicates which key is presently in use.
When Seat Entry Memory is enabled within vehicle personalization menus, positions previously stored to memory buttons 1 and 2 are recalled when the ignition is changed from off to on or accessory, based upon the key or key fob used to access and start the vehicle.
Additionally, if a Seat Exit Memory is enabled – also found under vehicle personalization options within the vehicle’s settings menu – the seat setting programmed for the ‘Exit’ button will automatically be recalled when the vehicle is turned off and driver’s door is open.
In order to enable Seat Entry Memory:
- Enter the Settings menu within the GMC Infotainment screen.
- Select the “Vehicle” button, then either the “Seating Position” or “Comfort and Convenience” button, depending on the vehicle.
- From there, select “Seat Entry Memory, and select “On” or “Off” to enable or disable the feature.
In order to enable Seat Exit Memory:
- Enter the Settings menu within the GMC Infotainment screen.
- Select the “Vehicle” button, then either the “Seating Position” or “Comfort and Convenience” button, depending on the vehicle.
- From there, select “Seat Exit Memory Options” and select “On” or “Off” to enable or disable the feature.
