Santiago Villamar: Staff Spotlight

Santiago Villamar has only been at Terra Nova GMC Buick for just over a month, but the Sales and Leasing Consultant from Cusco, Peru, already sounds like someone who's been here much longer. He's still learning the ropes, and he'll tell you that openly, but the way he talks about the job doesn't suggest someone new to caring about it.

While it’s easy to assume that a love of cars is the main reason someone would work at a dealership, Villamar says it was the people who drew him in first.

"I chose Terra Nova for the incredible atmosphere and welcoming team,” Villamar said, “It's a positive energy I noticed from the moment I first walked in, and I still feel it every single day when I come into work."

It also helped that a positive reputation preceded the dealership. "I was drawn to the dealership's reputation of providing great customer service and the opportunity to learn and work with a team that puts customer satisfaction first," he said.

He's not one to overcomplicate things. When asked about the best part of his job, the answer came quickly.

"The best part of this job is working with clients to reach a deal they're happy with," he said. "It's very rewarding to see them drive off completely satisfied with their new vehicle."

Past experiences taught him how to multitask and manage priorities without losing sight of the person in front of him, a skill set that translates well to a fast-paced showroom floor.

Life Outside the Dealership

Outside of the dealership, Santiago trains in jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. There's a throughline there, between the discipline it takes to show up on the mats and the presence it takes to show up for a customer. Santiago seems to understand that. "It helps me stay energized and focused when I'm back to working with clients," he said.

My Dream Car

When asked about his dream car, he answers with the GMC Yukon Denali.

"I love the mix of luxury feel, great performance, and presence on the road," he said. "Such a beautiful machine."
